House Elevations
Following Superstorm Sandy, many homeowners along the Jersey Shore have chosen to raise their house above flood elevations levels required by FEMA. Kalinka Homes can perform this entire process, including obtaining permits and managing paperwork submission to various authorities.
After disconnecting utilities and the framing from the existing foundation, the house is raised using powerful precision lifts to create space below to work on the foundation. Then either additional courses of concrete block or carpentry is added to the existing foundation, or an entirely new foundation is built underneath the house. Pilings can also be installed if conditions warrant. After the house is lowered and secured onto the new foundation the utilities are reconnected. Lastly new stairs and decks are built to the new floor height and exterior siding is patched or replaced.
Besides an exterior facelift, it is common to renovate the interior of the house after elevation.
